Sapphire Laser

Sapphire lasers, also known as titanium-sapphire lasers, are state-of-the-art lasers whose wavelengths of high-energy near-infared and red light can be adjusted by laser surgeons. The highly-sophisticated sapphire laser is often used by scientists conducting research because of its easy ability to be tuned and controlled. The laser emits its light in very short, ultra-high intensity continuous pulses, and first came onto the scene in 1982. Sapphire lasers received their name because the way they simulate emission of their light is with a sapphire crystal that contains titanium ions.

SAPPHIRE LASER TREATMENTS ARE IDEAL FOR:

  • Enlarged pores
  • Fine lines
  • Surface wrinkles
  • Acne scars
  • Surgical scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Uneven skin texture

The sapphire laser has become quite popular with laser surgeons because of they can achieve results for their clients with minimal downtime and discomfort. The sapphire cooling tip on the end of the laser cools and calms the skin while the light pulses it. Therefore, clients can remain comfortable throughout their procedures. While some clients describe the sensation as a light snapping of a rubber band on their face, many clients actually report that they found their treatment to be relaxing and enjoyable.

Sapphire laser treatments take less than an hour to complete, and clients can return immediately to their normal activities. Though some people experience slight redness, the majority don’t have any noticeable redness at all. Sapphire laser treatments are often referred to as ‘lunchtime procedures’ because of the speed and effectiveness at which they’re performed. Using these lasers also is also considered very safe and requires fewer treatments than other lasers preceding it have in the past.

Considered even less invasive than microdermabrasion, sapphire laser procedures can tighten skin and diminish acne scars as well. They are also used to improve rosacea, remove wrinkles and fine lines, and improve the quality and appearance of skin damaged from the sun. They work by using their light to gently stimulate the skin’s production of collagen.

Treatments with the sapphire laser can be enjoyed by themselves or in conjunction with other procedures. In addition to improving skin tone and texture, sapphire laser treatments allow the skin to receive additional stages of treatment such as exfoliation and hydration.

For sapphire laser treatments to be most effective, generally about six treatments are recommended. The vast majority of clients immediately see an improvement after the first session, and continued improvements along the way.
