Rejuvination Skin Treatments

Facial rejuvenation is any cosmetic treatment or procedure performed to give a more youthful appearance to a clients face. The ability of different facial rejuvenation treatments to remove wrinkles, even out skin tone and reduce enlarged pores has made them quite popular in recent years. These procedures also tighten loose skin and diminish acne scars and sun spots. Conveniently performed in laser surgery clinics with little-to-no downtime, many skin rejuvenation treatments have been coined mini lunchtime face-lifts.

Different factors can contribute to aging of the skin, including the natural aging process, exposure to the sun and wind, chemical and biological pollution, and genetics. Many different skin rejuvenation techniques are available to help combat these effects, including topical products, fillers, microdermabrasion, and laser skin resurfacing.

Topical products are often applied to treat superficial wrinkles and fine lines. Fillers, such as Botox, Restylane and hyaluronic acid, are used to plump up areas of the face and fill in wrinkles. Microdermabrasion and chemical peels remove the top layer of skin to stimulate growth of new skin. In some instances, topical products are combined with microdermabrasion to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment. But, laser facial rejuvenation (with or without fillers) has shown the most promise in client satisfaction to date.

Laser skin resurfacing, a facial rejuvenation treatment and our specialty here at the Minneapolis laser surgery center, is a non-invasive procedure that involves using ablative and non-ablative lasers such as the Ebrium varieties to achieve younger-looking skin. The lasers stimulate the production of collagen and elastin in the skin, two tissues that keep it taut and firm.

Another form of facial rejuvenation we offer is Broad Band Light (BBL) therapy. A powerful light source, BBL filters various wavelengths of light into the skin with minimal skin damage. An BBL treatment improves the tone and texture of skin, as well as reducing pore size and treating lesions. A popular choice for skin discoloration and rosacea, this non-invasive procedure has no recovery time.

Light emitting diodes (LED) are also available for the treatment of superficial wrinkles and skin discolorations. LEDs stimulate cells to increase the bodys production of collagen, a protein in the body that greatly slows down its production after age twenty-five. LEDs produce light in yellow, red and blue wavelengths.

Both laser and light facial rejuvenation procedures dramatically improve the appearance of skin, and allow clients to enjoy a youthful, vibrant and glowing appearance.
