Acne Laser Treatments

Acne laser treatments are becoming more and more popular by laser surgeons, doctors and dermatologists to combat existing acne and noticeably reduce acne scars. Acne crosses racial and age boundaries, and can be very damaging to people’s self-esteem and confidence. The emerging technology of acne laser treatment and its effectiveness has not only improved the outer image many people present to the world, but their inner image as well.

Acne laser treatments show a lot of promise and produce better results than other methods of treating acne like topical creams and oral medications. Doctors are also finding that laser treatments for acne scars are much less painful and offer a quicker recovery time than processes they used to treat acne in the past, such as dermabrasion and chemical peels. Prior to acne laser technology, the costs, pain and downtime of the available treatments made many people choose to live with their acne scars instead of having them removed.

But then acne laser treatments arrived on the scene. These procedures use lasers to directly target existing acne and acne scars without damaging the surrounding skin. Acne laser treatments can be used anywhere people have acne breakouts, such as the face, back and chest.

Sometimes, a combination of lasers and laser resurfacing techniques are used in conjunction with one another to produce the best results. For more severe acne scars, an erbium laser may be used to remove the scars. Many clients diminish their acne scars and wrinkles at the same time, since erbium laser treatments are also used for removing wrinkles and other skin imperfections.

Acne laser treatments are not as expensive as you might initially think. While the price varies according to the type of laser used and severity of the scarring, treatments generally cost around $500 per session. Sessions last about twenty minutes, and clients may experience slight discomfort during the process. While side effects are relatively few, some people experience swelling or some redness immediately following the process.

Typically, we recommend around three to four acne laser treatments, once a month. Since acne and acne scars have shown such responsiveness to lasers, not to mention the short recovery time and reasonable prices, we predict the number of acne laser treatments performed each year will undoubtedly continue to grow.
